We spent the first half of our trip in Rome.
We rented a studio apartment, it was very cozy and had lots of art and books.
This is the small courtyard where our flat was located. It was in the Campo de Fiori neighborhood, if you're familiar.
This daily produce market was just a block away; we got fruit here in the mornings.
Piazzas everywhere.
A fountain outside Galleria Borghese; I thought it was going to be just another museum but the art and sculptures were spectacular, I highly recommend it.
No tourist trip to Rome would be complete without a trip to the Colosseum...
...and St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City.
Of course we ate gelato daily...
...and pizza a couple of times.
I just had to snap a pic of this - it's a shop that sells yarn and lingerie! I saw a couple of places like this.
Up next - the Amalfi coast, and sewing stuff!

Nice trip, great photos. Your courtyard picture is the same as one I have on a calendar I bought in Rome in 2006 (calendar is for 2007). I loved that photo so much I've kept the it hanging from July for 3 years now. If you didn't already know, that is "Acetari's Arch" to the left of the steps. How cool to see this photo pop back up.
BeeBee - Aha, I read that courtyard could be found on many postcards but I never saw those. Yes, it's called Agli de Acetari. Thanks for letting me know about your calendar!

Beautiful! I've been to Italy, but not Rome. It looks beautiful. What a good idea to rent a flat instead of dealing with a hotel.
I am so jealous! I've been to Italy a few times and I seriously think I could live there. You'll have to tell us if you found any awesome fabric places. I'd love to know where to go the next time I am over there.

Oh, Piazza Navonna (sp?) is one of my favorite places in Roma, just across the river from the Pope's castle hide-away! I'm going to visit Italy in a few years, and I can hardly wait.

Wow! Rome looks incredible! You must have had such a wonderful trip. I'm curious to know if you speak Italian, and if not how widely used is English (how easily can one get by without Italian)?

Oh wow it almost feels like I was there! Your pics are great and wow those views! I wouldn't mind some of that pizza either. :-)
