Snow in June
Yup, that couple in the fleece jackets is me and my husband. We were in Colorado this past weekend to visit my parents, and we drove up to the top of Pikes Peak - Tim's first time and something my parents and I haven't done for nearly 20 years. You can also take a rail car up, or crazy people hike it.
It was cold at the top! While temps were in the 80s (28+ C) in the city, the summit of the mountain was about 32 F (0 C). We were lightheaded because of the lack of oxygen. Trees don't even grow up there. The drive up is actually very pretty:
Anyway, back to work and reality. I have a 4 day weekend for the 4th of July, so I am planning on a sewing marathon - I saw some great stuff in the July BWOF preview, and I have a couple online fabric orders heading my way!

America certainly has a diverse landscape. I really need to do a roadtrip one day.
The view is worth the dizziness! What a nice day trip!
Beautiful. The snow looks refreshing compared to the 95 temp in chicago! Never thought I would say that!
Oh, how I envy you!!! :-) We took the cog railway up to Pikes Peak ten years ago, and it was breathtaking. I am not surprised that Katharine Lee Bates came up with "America the Beautiful" there. I wish I could go back to Colorado this year, too.

Only God could have created something so magnificant!
Breathtakingly beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

What GORGEOUS pictures, wow!
Beautiful! Can't wait to see what you've got lined up for the long weekend. I just finished sewing a dress (and I actually like the way it turned out) so it's given me the courage to maybe tackle some more apparel projects soon!
Awesome! I'll be up there in a couple of weeks. I went to the top as a child too but my hubby and kids have never been. I remember it being soooo windy!
That looks very pretty! Gosh, to think that I'm boiling in the Tx heat and that place is 32 degrees. I wish i was there. :):):)
Hope your trip was super fun.
Hugs,
Lory
