Weekend sewing

Finally I finished the Marfy 1513 dress. Well, with the exception of hemming (the boring part). I'm planning to wear it to a wedding next weekend so I'll get pictures of me wearing it then:

I used a wool jersey that I got during PR Weekend in LA last year. It has a grey snakeskin print and it is divine. I'll do a full review of the pattern when I get more pictures next weekend.

On Saturday I met up with Kirsten for a little fabric shopping. I picked up some linen/rayon and have these pants mostly finished now:

I'm doing the cropped version on the left, it's Burda 7653, part of their new spring collection. They're done enough that I was able to try them on, but I haven't decided yet how I feel about them. More to come on these too!

Love that dress. I can't wait to see pictures of it on you. When I first saw those pants on Burda's website, all I could think was "Hammer Pants!" I took a pass on them the first time around, I think I'll pass again. But they could look so cute on you!

Cannot wait to see that dress on you! I'm still kicking myself for not getting some of that fabric. It's hard to tell what style the pants are, would you consider them harem pants? I am warming up to the look, especially with some cagey heels.

I love that dress and that fabric is so pretty. Those pants will be so cute, too. I can't wait to see them.

Great dress - that will be great for a wedding.

Lovely dress! Cannot wait for the pants because I am planning on doing something similar. Actually I finished the muslin but have not found *the fabric* just yet!

Christina, the dress looks really good, how are you planning on accessorizing it?

Hi Marita! I will definitely wear a belt with this dress. I have a black leather belt that will look good, but I'm still deciding on shoes!

Great job on the dress...very pretty. I am contemplating whether I should try out a Marfy pattern, because there's no instruction and I don't know if I could handle it. How do you feel about having no instructions?

A heads up: I just got an email from Vogue Patterns that they are having a 2-day $6.75 pattern sale over the next couple days.

Maybe you (and everyone else) can start on your wishlist of the latest offerings!

Hi Kennis - It wasn't so bad not having instructions with this pattern, simply because I've made a similar style of dress before. The pattern pieces do have notches and matchpoints to help. I'll describe this when I post more pics of the dress.

Hi brocadegoddess - Some patterns are on their way to me right now! I ordered them during a recent Club BMV sale (I'm a member). I'm hoping to make that Michael Kors dress soon.
