I have a pair of olive green linen cargo pants from Zara that are worn and faded beyond belief and need to be replaced. And a psuedo-fisherman style pant from H&M that I bought back in spring 2002, it goes without saying this pair has seen better days.
So, I hit the internet in search of a pattern or two to use for my next generation of summertime pants.
"Thai fisherman pants", popular among yoga enthusiasts
I found a free pattern online for Thai fisherman pants, and I've also seen them promoted as yoga pants and maternity pants. I've never tried any like this and I'm wondering how well they stay up. I might try making a pair to at least wear around the house. Fisherpants.com has nice information about this style of pant if you're interested.
Also, I've been stalking the Danish pattern company, Onion, because of their great selection of pants. Right now I am most drawn to 4021 (I love the darts at the knees) and 4022 (sorry I am unable to link directly to these). I've never purchased from them before. Hmm, well, today is my payday...

Oh! Try Onion. I've been curious about them. They have several cute tops and dresses that I've been looking at. Knee darts are neat.
They stay up FINE. They were all the rage in my city a few years ago, I had/ have a couple of pairs. They're quite flattering, too, in a bohemian kinda way.
The trick is to put them on, hold them taut away from your body with your right hand, put your left hand on your right hip and hold the fabric there to make a nice sharp fold as you pull your right hand over to your left hip. Tie (somehow...), and flip the top over! They'll sit nice and flat at the front then. That sounds way more complex than it is...
hehe. I just noticed those Danish pants are alternatively called 'knickers'. That Australian/ English for panties... and I got an immature giggle out of that.
My absolute favorite yoga pants are McCall's 4664. I like the wide WB for yoga. These are interesting though, I'll be looking forward to seeing how you make out with them.
Well I must be totally out of the loop because I have no idea what Thai fisherman pants are, but I live in hillbilly-ville so that is not surprising. I will have to check them out. I have the Onion 4021 pattern. I haven’t made it yet (I am in the middle of moving 1/2 way across the country) but I plan to make them for summer. I just love drawstring waist pants that a comfy but don’t look like your wearing your jammies. I hope I will get them made before the end of summer!
