When I was nearly finished working on the sailor pants, I really needed a McSewing project as a pick me up. I decided I should make a coordinating blouse and I chose Simplicity 3887. I made View D but with short sleeves.
Likes/dislikes
I liked that it was super fast & easy to sew.
No dislikes.
Fabric
Fashion fabric: White cotton gauze with gold lurex stripes from Fashion Fabrics Club (item #BB272), 1.5 yards at $4.75/yard = $7.13
Interfacing at neckband: Gauzy Indian cotton in my stash
Alterations/design changes
I added 3/4'' width to the neckband, my neckband turned out to be 2.5'' wide.
I shortened the length a couple of inches. In this case, I was so concerned with showing off the buttons on my sailor pants; I think next time I won't shorten it quite as much.
Will there be a 'next time'?
I would certainly sew it again. I ironed the gauze a bit during construction so I'm looking forward to washing it in order to get it to tighten up again.
I think a drapey fabric is best for this top; even the gauze is a bit too stiff in my opinion (the sleeves in particular, unless you are planning to add the elastic casing, which I'm considering...).

Very cute top and your sailor pants are great, too.
I think you must be a size 2 in real life because you are not drowning in the top nor do you look pregnant. It's just lovely. I also like how you leave out the elastic of tops so you get a flowy effect/affect (never could tell the difference between the two).
Your complete outfit looks awesome! I love the adjustments you made to the pants and they look great on! Awesome job!Beautiful!
Very cute Christina! I love the sleeves and neckline..

This is a very cute top! I love the banding around the neck - it provides great opportunities for embellishment!
